the rogue yogini

tell me, yoginis and yogis, will a daily dose of yoga bring me back to my earthly senses? i'm famously inconsistent about exercising so i made this little sign to remind me to stick with it. this must be another moonlighting activity, though, as i'm still chasing sweet little naughties during the daylight. my surprises first thing this morning included an explosion of roasted red pepper hummus all over the kitchen floor (the scent of garlic is not good at 7 am), a tube of yogurt squirted on the table, and a loaf of bread hidden under the chair cushion. this girl needs a long, long, long walk in the fresh air soon, but for now, back to the grind. and this one is definitely going in the shop :)

Oh no, sorry about the hummus explosion! Still, you managed to make more wonderful art. I definitely see this one selling too! I should try something like this sometime.

Oh how I love this one! I need to be reminded of this too, are you selling this print?!)
being a yogini (and a yoga teacher on the side) I can say yes! even 10or 15 minutes of yoga will do you good. Doesn't have to be much-

here's to making the time!

it might not make you happy, but it would me if there was a lot of screaming going on at the same time. i'm sorry, but it can be so cute when little kids turn into wild women for a brief moment.

i love your yoga-inspired drawing. i need that reminder, too.

i LOVE this!!! the every day yoga has been a little bit of wonderfulness for me. even though i had a regular practice before (and meditate every day regardless of the asana), doing it every day has created a real shift for me. much love to you, my dear.

Missy!! I just went to the shop to buy the print and is already sold! I *NEED* that... maybe I'll be more consistent if I glue that print to my monitor ;)

I think I need a sign like this too!

YES! I do 40 minutes every morning and if I slip it I feel off all day. Drives me nuts. Once you start doing it consistently you won't be able to stop!

aimee, if you ask me, you get plenty of exercise cleaning up and chasing after your sweet & silly girls!! :) however, yoga would certainly give you a little "aimee" time.

personally i prefer pilates over yoga - for a workout. BUT for relaxing/centralizing yourself yoga could be the way to go!
i have wierd porportions - they would say downward dog (which is like the most easy basic thing) and i found it crazy painful!
haha now im rambling...
go yoga!

Even looking at this piece makes me take deeper breaths and calm down. :)

I am so the wrong person to ask. I'm allergic to exercise. But I have to admit, for a while I was taking tennis lessons. And while it was absolute torture for me to drag myself out of the house and onto the courts, once I got moving again, I felt better about myself, more energetic. I think it would definitely help if you got a yoga buddy to motivate you to go.

Other than that, whatEVER you choose to rejuvenate and restore yourself, whether it's soaking in the tub or going off to read, go do it, and do it regularly.

Yes, I believe in being regular. I eat regular oatmeal every morning. That just makes me a regular person.

As for yoga, once a friend and I went to a session. We were laying flat on our backs and the master was coaching the group. It was very quiet. Then I had this urge to tell my friend who was laying next to me to lay on top of me. She burst out laughing and had to leave the session. I just kept on taking deep breaths...

I love this. It's pretty and calming, and the art is simplistically delicious. :)

Maybe we should all become performance artists: practice yoga while painting and mopping up hummus, Oh my come to think of it I think Motherhood is a fascinating performance to watch it's funny, heartwarming, heartwrenching messy and perfect all at once and there is most definantly an art to it! ( some days I have it and some not so much!) This and your last post almost make me want to post a pic of how unbelievable yucky my kitchen floor is right now. Thanks for being so real Aimee!

oh yes, i need to make to make time for it every day, and this reminder to do so! i'm very fickle in exercising regularly, too. :) i love this so much, aimee-- you always hit the thought-nail right on the head. :)

Judging by the messes you describe in your last post I suggest taking up running. Run away from the house and keep running until the you're exhausted and high! That's what I do and it works every time!

Yoga is so good for the soul. I am going tonight, hopefully. The only time my mind ever completely clears. Good luck to you! Namaste.

A great reminder! I do not do yoga, but I do meditate, unfortunately rather inconsistently. I have recently started up again - I need something to calm me down! I think I'm going to make myself a little poster - to remind myself to be mindful ...

the smell of garlic in the morning IS really disturbing, isn't it? ...

it makes making time for yoga seem not only important, but downright urgent :)

Aimee, you know that I restrain myself here on your blog to keep up appearances :) but that does not mean that I don't admire you because I do and I staked my art and mind to that. If you are so inclined, I have a special award for you.
