kansas is famous for its sunflowers, something i didn't know when we moved here three years ago. they are so beautiful that it really doesn't matter that they have no scent. even the sign next to this field wryly admits that you can stick your nose into a sunflower, but all you'll get is sunflower oil all over your face.
for more whiffs of the world, visit caroline, who chose the weekword aroma. thanks for all who signed up for the groovy doodle giveaway - i'll keep it open until wednesday, september 2nd. feel free to pass on the link to the post!
have a great weekend!

Sunflower has alway been my favorite flower. My Dad was from Kansas and I guess seeing the fields as a young child impressed me. Thanks for bringing back those memories.

Whoa! the last shot of flowers telescoping out into the vast expanse of kansas, flatter than a pancake- is surreal!
Bliss! These images take me back *home* to Kansas.
I don't recall ever seeing a whole field of sunflowers. How crazy is that? The thought never even crossed my mind! Thanks for showing me something so unique & beautiful on a dreary NYC Friday...

Absolutely gorgeous! Definitely worth a trip to Kansas to see that!
wow-o-wow... it brings back a childhood memory of sunflower fields south of minneapolis on the way to gramma & grampa's house. they stopped planting sunflowers there about 20 years ago, and it's been that long since i've seen a sunflower field. wish i was there.
Holy Cow! Sunflowers as far as the eye can see...amazing!
Beauty & Beauties as far as the eye can see!! Great photos.

You're so right Aimee, who needs a smell when they are so beautiful? And even prettier in the hands of your lovely girls!
Oh my goodness, they stretch on forever! You went to the Land of Oz. Why, look at those wondrous beauties. And the sunflowers aren't bad, either. :)
If I get a pimple on my nose from the oil, I am blaming you.
Beautiful !!! flowers, of course... and... girls !!! Lovely ! There is a lot of sunflowers in the part of the country where I was born... so your association of children and flowers, is more than a souvenir for me ;)

Go see what The Bella Sinclair has done!
I saw what your beautiful post and lovely girls inspired on Bella's blog and had to come over to see for myself. Your profusion of sunflowers is truly inspirational. Thank you for the magic.
Hello! I found my way here through Bella's blog. What an awesome sight :) A field of Sunflowers! What a cheery picture, it is pure sunshine! It would be fun to visit the field and watch the birds trying to get to the sunflowers. Have a great day!
Oh such wonderful sunflowers and beautiful girls too. I know I read this post the other day and can't believe I didn't post!
I wasn't able to visit my sister this year and the huge sunflower fields near her home so I fully appreciate your photos. In fact, your photos inspired Bella to draw them so between the both of you I feel fulfilled with my view of sunflowers for the year after all.
Thank you.
WAUW! Amazing view
