AEDM 2011 #7: Prowling through Pennsylvania
Today was the shortest of the drives, which gave me plenty of time to detour off I-80, wander through the gorgeous Pennsylvania countryside & Amish enclaves, get lost in South Bethlehem and land in the weather capital of the world just long enough to meet Punxsutawney Phil. No preview on winter from him. He was too busy sleeping. There were so many scenes I had to pass up because it wasn't safe or practical to park with two little ones in tow; my heart wept digital tears as I left behind a vintage coke machine, a crumbling Chew Mail Pouch Tobacco barn and a beautiful horse and buggy, not to mention yesterday's outstanding sign by the mid-Ohio atheists, all which will have to remain just memories. But pictures really are secondary; the whole point of travel for me is to perk up the senses, to notice, to enjoy each moment like it is a meal I never want to forget.

you have such an eye for magic in the mundane. LOVE these.
Digital tears, awesome!
while i am very happy you made it to your destination safe and sound, i am a little sad that our virtual trip is already over. your photos and words are such a treat!
There are just some magic photos and snippets of the journey there... looks so atmospheric ... very cool xx
Awesome photos!! Extra exciting new menu?! Bwahaha :D I need me some of that in MY kitchen :D
I can deal with the "mundane" of other states, but somehow, the "mundane" of Pennsylvania always gets me down. I guess you blew past my house! Looking forward to photos of the new place!!!
love these.
i want to know what goes before the & on the & Meats sign.
It is so fun to see the world from your perspective- you are so good at finding beautiful things everywhere you go!
Holy moly, look at that clothesline! Just like the sign says, you are extra exciting.
xoxo
