the broad house

I lost my footing and missed out on the bliss list last week, but today let me share one of my frequent delights in my new town: visiting The Broad House. Unlike Lawrence, Kansas, where anything goes, an artsy yard-collage-montage is really the last thing one expects when visiting this pretty, polished up little village in New Jersey. Yet here it is. It's like Funkytown meets Nick's Yard, the Love Shack, The Outdoors Type and Coo-Coo-Ka-Choo house part one and two, topped with a dash of macabre ganache. It's awesome. And it makes me homesick.

Hopefully I'll be back later this week to share an update on pair of vintage trunks I'm rehabbing -- I found them in the trash! See here for the pre-pics :)

There is a house a few streets away from us whose garden looks just like this... Crazy stuff but I cannot help but walk slowly past looking at all of the lovely stuff.

Hahahaha! Somehow, you always find these hidden gems. I'm glad you found a bit of home in your town.

Oh TRUNKS! Hehehe. I thought you were talking underwear. :)

There is a place in Montague, NJ that is probably right up your alley. It's called Luna Parc. They have a website, but I'll give you the address in case you don't want to spoil it by seeing photos - 22 De Groat Road, Montague, NJ 07827. I'm not sure where exactly you are, but it's about an hour and ten minutes from Montclair State University. While in Sussex County you could also visit the highest point in NJ - High Point State Park. That's probably twenty minutes from Luna Parc. There's a monument that is open for climbing, but I'm not sure about when it's open. There's hiking there, too.

Found you on someone's blogroll. Loved the name "artsyville" and, being an artist, I had to check out your blog. :)

I LOVE your adorable artwork! It's the kind of art that makes you feel like smiling from ear to ear. :D
