glue it tuesday: week 2

Welcome to week 2 of Glue it Tuesday! More fun for me in the gluebook this week -- I hijacked the ULINE catalog and found some excellent scraps to pull into my mindless layering. Perfect end of the day activity this week -- I've been stuffing goodie boxes by day and unwinding with a glue stick at night!

Share your glue adventures below as well as on Twitter & Instagram under the tag #glueittuesday. Can't wait to see what you've all done!

glue obsessions & goodie boxes

Before I get to the boxes -- whoa! You knocked the scissors out of my hand and the glue all over my table. Thanks so much for making the first Glue it Tuesday a fab one! I think this will work out much better to just have a central, convivial spot each week for glue-obsessed folks to meet each other & share what they're already doing rather than toss another creative challenge into the already overprompted universe. I loved & was so inspired by the variety of styles & methods you all use in your work.

Speaking of obsessions, that brings me to the boxes. Winter has refused to depart so I've responded by hiding in my mess of a living room studio and making goodie boxes. Many of my Etsy orders are sent as gifts, but people have to go to the trouble of cobbling an assortment together from my listings and then asking me to write a gift note, so I thought I'd take it a step further and make the decision an easy, one-click, fun & colorful one. Each goodie box is stuffed with a 5x7 print, magnet, a jotter, set of doodle clips, a handpainted heart, a card that I'll personalize for the recipient, and (of course) chocolate. It's all nestled on a bed of colorful confetti (you should see my living room), wrapped up in bright tissue & ribbon, and decorated with doodled stickers and a cheerful warning to the opener so they'll be on guard for the confetti. I started with The Mama Box since Mother's Day is fast approaching, and just added The Happy Birthday Box, The Coffee Box, and The Breathe Box.

off to PO

You can see all of the goodie boxes here, and more are coming: travel, tea time, teacher, cheer up, you can do it, and so on. Just shipped my first batch of boxes today (thanks to all of you who have already helped scatter the word; I really appreciate it!) and now I'm off to make more. See you Tuesday with glue & scissors!

glue it tuesday 3/19

Welcome to the first Glue it Tuesday! I figured since so many people already had their hands in scissors and glue anyway, it would be a fun experiment to bring cut & paste enthusiasts together to see what happens. The comments from last week's announcement were encouraging...

"Ooooh! Glue and sharp instruments!" (Bella)

"When I'm lacking energy but still feel the need to create, I often become a couch potato with scissors, magazines, and glue..." (Kirstin)

"Ohhhh be still my little cut-n-paste heart..." (Amanda)

"I love it already..." (Lynn)

"I've recently been going to thrift stores and collecting cheap books for collage..." (Anika)

"I already do cut & paste... so this makes me all giddy..." (Hanna)

"I'm all about cutting and gluing..."(Cheryl)

"" (Chel)

"I'll be there with glue on my fingers and bits of scrap stuck in my hair..." (Deborah)

"Ahh, cut & paste... my number one favorite pasttime..." (Andria)

"I've been collecting little papers ever since I saw your book on Instagram..." (Tricia)

"I will have to find my dusty blog and join in on this..." (Rossie)

"Oh yummy, scrumptious and delicious... a great reason to use up some of that STUFF!" (Annie)

Feel free to use the link list below to share ANYTHING you've made this week involving adhesion! Mixed media, collage, scrapbooking, good old cut & paste -- from basic to fancy, it all goes. Some of you have asked if you can borrow the Glue it Tuesday graphic for your blogs -- of course you can. Glad you're here & I hope you stick around! ;)

p.s. you can also join us on Instagram and Twitter with the hashtag #glueittuesday -- I'm @artsyville (what else? :))

one marvelous mama

I managed to produce something before Mother's Day this year! Like so many of my doodles, though, this was born purely from a selfishness that had more to do with timing than planning. Between dealing with the tween angst seeping into our household (too early for my liking) and a 6 year old who still sometimes behaves like a toddler, I needed some reinforcement that I'm doing at least a marginally decent job at training these little humans for life.

For mamas who need a boost too, I have it in a 5x7 print for quick & surreptitious glances, as well as an 8x10 print should you require the big, bold in-your-face reminder.

I'm using both ;)

Glue it Tuesday

Did you know it was coming? I dropped a hint in the last post with the scissors and cut up stuff all over the table. Introducing Glue it Tuesday! Bring your art journals, scrapbook projects, magazine clippings, collage work, googly eyes, etc. -- whatever you wish to affix to something else. This challenge is wide open to anyone who loves to cut & paste! No prompt or rulebook -- it's simply a weekly check-in to share what you've created. You can post any time during the week, so don't get all bent out of shape if you can't post on Tuesday. If you've grown rather attached to your lists from List it Tuesday, by all means, keep 'em coming and paste them in a journal! I hope you'll have as much fun with this as I already am! I've turned an old Moleskine planner into a "gluebook" -- just a receptacle for my huge stash of magazine pics that will become a color & pattern resource for inspiration when I'm finished. You can see more of my gluebook pages on Instagram and a few of my other cut & paste projects here if you want some ideas to get started.

See you next Tuesday with our first check-in (I vow to post the link list on time)! I hope you'll join us!

List it Tuesday 3/12: Kiddie Games

Oh, argh! Sorry it took me so long to post. I'm moving in mud this week so much that all I can do is chop up magazines this week. I'm suffering from a daylight savings hangover, I've had a sick little one for four days, and yesterday I found out about someone who took my Properly Caffeinated print, copied it directly down to the last speck of lettering, turned it into a painting, changed around a few of the colors and now is selling it as her own work. So far the photo has only surfaced on Facebook (not on Etsy or any other art site where I could otherwise report it), so if any of you happen to see it, I'd be so grateful if you would let me know. Anyway, we must move on to other things, and I can't think of a better topic than kiddie games. What did you play when you were a kid? What do you play now? I'm a traditionalist. UNO, Yahtzee, Monopoly (when I have five hours to spare), Life, Crazy Eights, Slapjack...

And -- as I mentioned last week, it's time for a shake up around here! This will be the last prompt for List it Tuesday for now, but I've come up with (what I think is) a great solution to keep the creative challenge going (you won't even have to stop listing if you don't want to!) I'm super excited and I hope you will be too. Come back tomorrow morning & I'll do the big artsy reveal. Bring your friends!

List it Tuesday 3/5: I'd Like to Visit

I'd like to visit
Topic for this week: I'd like to visit (and things I'd like to do there). I didn't have time to doodle my list this week, but I'll keep it open here for you!

Next Tuesday's topic: favorite childhood games!

Just a fair warning... I'm getting the itch to try another regular feature here, so List it Tuesday's days might be numbered again. Sorry to start and stop again on you, but I like to keep things fresh around here, so it might just be one of those things that comes & goes seasonally, like my moods. Or if anyone has a burning desire to carry on the listing reins, let me know.

Wishing you all a great week!
