making a point with a few tips / workdesk wednesday

Hot doodly dog -- I figured out how to make groovy doodle pencils! This took many weeks of experimenting, swearing and frustration to get just right, but it was worth the effort. I love drawing patterns, and I love even more trying to figure out how to put them on stuff. I've always had a thing for paper covered pencils but do not love the gluey mess that comes with making them. I feel like a dirty traitor to Glue it Tuesday for saying that, but it's the truth, and besides, it's Wednesday. I figured out the answer to the adhesive dilemma with my trusty Xyron and its permanent adhesive cartridge. Way better than glue! (Only downside is that Xyron refills get expensive, very quickly, and much gets lost in the experimentation process with printing, measuring, trimming, aligning, etc.). I adapted my groovy doodle technique to the task (too much to explain here; but the curious are welcome to pick through the tutorial) and it managed to deliver the goods. I stocked the shop with five pencil packs yesterday and they will go in the goodie boxes, too. The end of the school year is rapidly approaching and I'm excited that for the first year ever, I know what I'll be giving for teacher gifts instead of waiting until the night before the last day of school to figure it out.

I'm also joining What's On Your Workdesk Wednesday for the first time! My desk has no workspace (it is entirely eaten up by my computer), so usually on this coffee table is where I make my crafty mess & pack orders. I really need a higher table with a decent chair, but for some reason I just cannot be bothered to do anything about it, so I just sit on that heart pillow to the left, drink coffee, and chop, print & pack away ;)

You are totally clever girlfriend. It does feel good to be ahead of the game and those teachers will love them. If I lived close by, I'd bring you a drafting table that I have to get rid of before moving...but you must not be too worried about it...so I won't. But...take care of that back of yours.
