Glue it Tuesday: Week 23

Thought I'd open the lounge today for a little adhesive discussion :) What are your faves? Mine are:

Glue Stick: UHU (which I can no longer find at Michaels! what happened?).

Glue Bottle: Can I say it? Good old Elmer's. If only they'd invent a lid that wouldn't freeze open halfway through the bottle.

Decoupage: Me love Golden Gel Medium (Matte -- not a Gloss Girl.) Mod Podge too. There's something about a piece sealed with decoupage glue that makes it seem so... official. (maybe because it cannot be undone.)

Tape (washi aside, of course): Mr. Tapey (the 3M ATG 752) and I have been inseparable for the past eight years. No mess. An absolute must have for paper crafters who do lots of piecework and don't want to deal with buckling and drying. I get the tape from United Manufacturers though I'm sure it can be found elsewhere too! It is very, very thin and super strong and so much cheaper in the long run than buying rolls of double stick tape.

Washi is still in customs hell -- I sit by the window, wistfully, peeking out behind the curtains for the trucker to show up. It is just as well that the stuff hasn't arrived -- in the span of the past two days, the water heater has broken, I pulled a door out of the wall, my daughter's orthodontic-thing (some monstrous device with hinges) went to pieces, one kid jammed up my printer, another rearranged our closets so that my husband had dresses on his side and I had dress shirts on mine (and she carefully folded all of our dirty clothes and put them away with the clean ones), both kids somehow disabled my computer speakers, and I cannot find the top of the food processor.

(Happy Gluesday! :))

So I heard this rumor of no-clog Elmer's glue. It might be urban legend, but it was listed on Harper's school supplies list. When I went to the store(s) to look for this mythical no-clog Elmer's glue, no luck. I will let you know if I ever find a unicorn either.

For paper-to-paper that has to really hold (like in bookbinding), I am devoted to PVA...Mod Podge for thin paper collage...The Ultimate for glossy or heavy items...gel crazy glue or Weldbond for hard items...washi tape for decoration (not really to hold things together) and glue sticks when I teach at school...hmmm...I love my adhesives! lol

LOVE UHU-and yeah, what's up with not being able to find it in the craft stores any longer??:(.Same with PPA-hard to find anywhere now but Traci Bautista's Collage Pauge is a pretty good replacement, as is PVA. I'm def. more of a matte gel med. person too. Happy "Gluesday" :)

For glue advice nerds, the website This to That is terrific!

I don't get the UHU craze. I have some and find it comparable to other glue sticks. So I just u-hu's what ever I can find at the store I am in. Hahaha, get my little pun thing I did? ;-)
Matte medium is my all time favorite go to glue. Use it under stuff to glue it down and over stuff as a sealer. Works great! and doesn't leave a build up and you can write over it and so on and so forth.

Oh goodness Aimee - you've had a week! I love UHU for the sheer joy of being able to tuck a stick anywhere and do on-the-move gluing. I used to be able to get the multi packs (to satisfy my need to hoard) at OfficeMax, but not anymore. So sad!

Oh my! Your kids antics made me chuckle. I have a 3 yr old, and I'm sure that's coming down the line. LOL. My favorite glue is Yes! Paste. Super thick, very little water so nothing buckles. But it is somewhat cumbersome to work with. For regular journal stuff, I just use an Elmer's glue stick because it's cheap and easy! I use Golden matte medium for something fancy on a canvas that I want to really stick.

sorry to hear your tape is stuck in customs. I use everything - depending on how thick the paper (usually) is, that I'm glueing. Usually Golden.

Love my Uhu but also still use the ancient everlasting tub of Yes ! Stickflat glue. I can't seem to get the hang of the tape runner ATG and so don 't grab it much. I like the reminder that it is for non buckling needs though. Might have to give her another go.
At work I use Beacon's 3 in 1, saying a few words over the bottle in hopes that the fumes will not do me in.

Oh dear! But I had to chuckle (at your happenings around the house) because I can relate- been there and done that, too!. Seems like sometimes when one thing happens - the domino effect kicks in.

I LOVE my Scotch ATG tape runner - it makes my heart happy - Mod Podge is good stuff too!
