Glue it Tuesday: Week 27

On time this week! Drop your glue & tape filled link love in the awaiting receptacle below. I'm packing my craft bags this very moment & later today I'll be at the The Ink Pad in New York City to teach my Work that Washi workshop! (say those last four words ten times quickly and tell me how many times you say "Wash that Worky Workshop" or "Shop that Worky Washwork " or "Work that Shoppy Workwash" or if you come up with any good phrases out of it.) We're going to do a bunch of quickie washi projects in 15-20 minute snippets. (Instead of speed dating, we're doing speed creating!) I am sincerely hoping that today goes better than yesterday, which was just a jumble of emotional messes and involved the burial of a pet fish. Happy Tuesday!

not in the morning

This sums up our mornings very neatly. We have two morning people and two not-morning people in this household, and I am one of the latter. Which means it is a terrible idea for me to be responsible for anything that needs to be orchestrated, organized, directed or done before I've had the chance to become a person for the day. It happens, as it must, but it is not a pretty scene.

{8x10 in both shops here and here for you to announce your own morning warning to the world.}

See you tomorrow for Glue it Tuesday!

Day Ten & Last Stop on the Artsyville Tape Hop: Daisy Yellow!

{photo courtesy of Tammy, Daisy Yellow}

We're shutting down the Artsyville Tape Hop in colorful style with one of my favorite art journalers & mixed media artists -- Tammy from Daisy Yellow! If you have not yet met Tammy, just block out a week of your life, start the coffee brewing and plan to stay a while. She is one of those linchpins of the creative community you need to know. She is so generous with her time and knowledge. Her blog is a picnic of color and she does everything she can to get people to just start creating.

Check out Tammy's annual ICAD challenge (Index-Card-a-Day) challenge (finished for this year, but it will pick back up in the spring), 61 Paper Prompts, Art Journaling 101, and her archives of ideas (and more ideas and more ideas...) She also writes beautiful e-zines and produces sets of Creative Prompt Cards to give you artsy zaps right where you need them. Her post will be open for entries through Monday.

I can't thank all of you tape hoppers enough -- hostesses and participants alike -- for making this such a wonderful experience for me, and for being so kind to spread the word about my tape. The Artsyville shop has been buzzing around the clock (and the globe) since the tape arrived three weeks ago, and my wholesale business is growing. I am so very grateful for all the Facebook shares, Tweets, mentions on Instagram, and referrals to friends and local shops. Every bit matters and every share counts. If you have a favorite local paper crafting/art supply/cute shop that I should know about, by all means send me a note at aimee (at) artsyville.com. Also --- send me your pictures if you make anything with my tape! We're building a photo gallery for the website and I would love to see the creative things you whip up from it.

Day Nine on the Artsyville Tape Hop: A Colorful Journey!

{photos courtesy of Carolyn from A Colorful Journey}

Second to last day of the Artsyville Tape Hop! Carolyn from A Colorful Journey created an adorable and funny fashion design tutorial with my tape. She is quick to mention that no kewpie dolls were harmed in the process. This was a perfect pairing of efforts here because Carolyn has just launched her e-course Transform Your Tape. I had no idea when I asked her to participate in my hop; it was one of those serendipitous things that led us to keep finding out about more things we had in common: from the same state, went to the same university at the same time, etc. If you love tape, she will teach you how to take it to a totally new performance level -- not just washi, but also packing tape and artist's tape (white masking tape). She is so good at demonstrating the step by step process and she is a genius at helping people break through the traditional uses for materials. She also has a new Facebook page for A Colorful Journey if you want to keep up with her tutorials and arty adventures.

Back tomorrow for the last day of the hop with of the hop with Tammy!

Day Seven on the Artsyville Tape Hop: Lime Tree Fruits!

{photo courtesy of Lime Tree Fruits}

You get to take a trip to the Caribbean for today's stop on the Artsyville Tape Hop! Go see Raine from the juicy and colorful Lime Tree Fruits, where you can have a fruity drink and take a nap on the beach. Plan to stay a while; you'll need to. She has more watercolory doodle goodness there than you can imagine. Loads of tutorials, loads of creative resources, loads of happiness and fun. And Raine reigns supreme over the free printable: grocery lists, calendars, filofax sheets, day planners, travel checklists, even a sheet to illustrate your dinner. You may never come back here for one of my printables once you have seen hers. Say hi, drop your name in the Rafflecopter, and good luck!

Day Six on the Artsyville Tape Hop: Lori from Elvie Studio!

Welcome to the second (and last) week of the Artsyville Tape Hop giveaway! Lori from Elvie Studio is kicking off day number 6 and ohmygosh you have to get over there and see what she did with the tape. The girl is a paper crafting and lettering genius!

In the meantime I am working hard on new tape designs and settling the kids into the second week of school and doodling up new banners (above) for www.artsyville.com -- finally getting all of my tutorials, printables, newsletters and other stuff in one receptacle along with the Artsyville store. This is a continually ongoing process; as soon as my husband gets things on the site just as I request it, I change my mind and ask him to change it again.

Did I mention that you need to go visit Lori?

The full hop schedule is as follows (please note that some of the giveaways have already closed! JillJoanne, and The Washi Blog are still accepting entries if you want to boost your chances to win a six pack.)

Day Five on the Hop! Traci Bunkers (plus a painty peek at something totally unrelated to tape)

Above is a painty peek of a doodle project totally unrelated to tape. It's something I feel compelled to do, yet I'm a bit clueless about the subject (that itself should give you a clue right there) so there will be a call for entries, input, suggestions, etc. Week after next I'll explain more.

And... next up on the tape hop: one of my favorite art journalers, Traci Bunkers! Traci is the author of The Art Journal Workshop and Print & Stamp Lab -- both awesome books & must-haves on the art shelves. She also makes stunning hand-dyed fibers and yarns. Traci and I used to live a stone's throw from each other in Lawrence, Kansas, and I miss our journal jams where we would meet in a cafe and Glue Stuff Down. (Only we didn't call it Stuff.) Today she is playing around with my washi tapes in her journal (Tape Stuff Down?) and I love how our colors and styles blend together on her pages. Swing by, say hi, & drop your name in the Rafflecopter for a set of six washi tapes!

Happy Friday!

Day Four on the Hop! Music, Pen & Paint, oops & back to the doodle hole

Just finished a new stack pack design (this one is called Make Music) and I'm so excited that Lindsay from Pen and Paint is hosting today's stop on the hop! Go visit her colordoodled world -- you will love it -- and get in line for those adorable little camera/cuppa/cupcake canvases she's famous for creating.  So cute they actually look edible. She paints batches of them at a time and they are always gone in 15 minutes. I snagged two for myself from her shop on a previous round and they went right into the kitchen. She uses the really thick sided canvases so they are petite and substantial at the same time -- and perfect for me, since I never get around to hanging anything up, and these are totally happy to stand on their own. I have them on top of a little spice cabinet. Love her, love her work.

And make sure you stop by Jill's place if you didn't yesterday -- I pulled a fast one on her by handing out just her site address to the other tape hoppers, instead of the direct link to her blog, so the traffic went to the wrong place. Sorry Jill. All fixed now. This is actually good news for you because with fewer entries, your chances for winning just went up. Seriously, please help me make up for my gaffe by swinging by Jill's beautiful blog & and to check out the gorgeous birthday book she made.

I'm in the middle of new tape designs so I am going to crawl back in the doodle hole now. Back tomorrow with Traci! Have a great day!

Day Three on the Hop! Double Punch: Jill Berry & The Washi Blog

It has been a quiet-busy day (quiet because the kids are back in school & busy from the packing!) I'm putting together a last minute custom goodie box for a birthday delivery -- the goodie boxes will be back in the shop in spades later this month!

Today we have a double punch on the tape hop! First up is Jill Berry, who is a crazy gifted map maker,  illustrator, calligrapher & mixed-media artist. She always has her hands in some sort of creative experiment and is not afraid to try anything. I love her sense of spirit and adventure (both in life and in her work), and I wish I lived in her town so we could have coffee and art chats on a regular basis. She has created a gorgeous and meaningful birthday book for her mom using my tape to line the pages. Her mom does not know that this birthday book awaits her, and so is banned from Jill's blog until the giveaway is over. Do not tell...

The second stop on the hop today is The Washi Blog, a beautiful spot devoted to the wonders of washi! It is overflowing with excellent ideas on how to use, store, display and hoard the goods. In short, it is a total tape addiction enabler ;)

Back tomorrow with more!

Day Two on the Hop! Joanne Sharpe (Plus Glue it Tuesday/Tape it Tuesday: week 25)

Back to the gluebook this week! I took a little beer & magazine break last night from the tape madness and had a little cut & paste fun while I was at it :) These are all snippets from the current Flea Market Style issue -- I LOVE this magazine. I can see exactly what I want my house to look like in nearly every picture, but can never manage to do it myself. I can scout out the exciting object here and there but some people are just so brilliant at putting it all together. And they have such visions. They can see a dirty bucket and make the most amazing lamp out of it. I cannot. I dream, though. Someday maybe. Until then I'll just keep cutting out pictures.

If you are new to Glue it Tuesday/Tape it Tuesday (pick your pleasure), welcome! It's a low-pressure, friendly, week-in for you to share any of your adhesive adventures. Journaling, collage, paper crafting, whatever. Just drop the link to your blog post below so everyone can find you.

Our hostess on the Artsyville tape hop today is one of my favorite letterladies ever, Joanne Sharpe! Go see what she did! Super journaling idea + another chance to snag a 6 pack! {The full blog hop schedule is here!}.

Happy Tuesday!

The Artsyville Washi Tape Hop! (Day One: Rachel Awes)

I mentioned some adhesive fun was coming, and it's here: The Artsyville Washi Tape Hop! Over the next two weeks, some of my favorite art journalers & lettering artists are going to take over the tape reins so you won't have to hear me talk about it for a while. Each artist will host a giveaway for a six pack (one of each design). If your tape coffers could use a little filling up, swing by & say hi! I gave them creative control to do their giveaway their own way, so it will be a surprise to each of us every day to see what adhesive adventures they have in store for us. Some may welcome entries as easily as coffee flows into my cup every morning & and others might make you work for it.  Grab your art journal and your pogo stick out of the garage and let's hop over to our first hostess, Rachel!

It's Stack Pack Sunday in Artsyville! Buy any three packs and get the fourth pack of your choice for free, today only. Each pack is a set of 20 mini flat cards (about the size of a business card). They work as gift tags, place cards, thank yous, enclosures, bulletin board reminders, excuse notes, lunch box hellos, memos, calling cards, public messages, or whatever. I've added a few new designs so there are 12 for your choosing pleasure! Stocked in both the Artsyville store and the Etsy shop

Off to the farmers market now...gorgeous day here! Happy Sunday!

glue it tuesday and TAPE it tuesday (the artsyville washi is here!)

They're here! Five new designs have joined Secret Garden in the Artsyville tape family and I couldn't have asked for a better scenario. It was dramatic right until the end. The truck backed into our driveway on Friday afternoon, the last delivery before Labor Day weekend started, and I ran outside and did crazy circles in the back yard with my hands up in the air. I also went into a complete manic panic before I opened those boxes. But my worry was unfounded. The tapes arrived in PERFECT condition. Every design turned out just as I had hoped it would. And the manufacturer nailed everything: the paper, the printing, the colors, the labels, the packaging, even an adjustment to the adhesive that we requested. I could not be happier. You should see the dining room.  Boxes and boxes and boxes of washi are stacked up the wall. I can guarantee the owner did not envision it as a tape distribution center when he built it in 1869.

I'll be back tomorrow with more (there is a lot of fun tapey stuff planned over the next few weeks!) but for now I am back to the packing table! I let it slip over the weekend that the tapes were in the Etsy shop and the Artsyville store (I am a terrible secret keeper) and I have been happily overwhelmed by the response so far. I am so grateful for my husband who managed the sourcing and importing from start to finish, and to everyone, including all of you in the creative art community, who has taken this journey with me and helped me see it to the finish line.

Happy Glue it Tuesday! For me, it might be Tape it Tuesday for a while!
